PIL's Kota Wajar boxship hijacked in Indian Ocean

Singapore: Pacific International Lines (PIL) container vessel, "Kota Wajar", has been boarded by unidentified men north of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. The Singapore-registered 1,550-teu vessel was positioned at Lat 01o33'S Long 54o52'E on 15 October 2009 at about 1012hrs (Singapore time) at the time of the incident.
 
The Kota Wajar was on her way from Singapore to Mombasa, Kenya. There are 21 crew confirmed on board the vessel, of which two are Singapore Permanent Residents.
 
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has stated that it is currently in contact and working with the ship owner and relevant agencies.  [15/10/09]
