Kuala Lumpur: The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP; pictured) has announced the retirement of its chief executive officer (CEO) Captain Ismail Hashim with effect from Thursday after more than 10 years of service, writes Bernama. Hashim has been CEO since 2008 and led the port towards new levels of growth, PTP said in a statement, adding that with effect from Jan 1, 2010, the CEO function will be covered by deputy ceo Azlan Shahrim until a new ceo is appointed. Azlan will be supported by PTP's senior management team in the day-to-day running of the company.
"PTP is perhaps the only major port in the world that has grown container throughput volume in a very challenging 2009," it said, adding that the port will announce its throughput volume as the numbers are tallied up at year-end. [31/12/09]
