Product tanker remains missing

Product tanker remains missing
A Malaysia-registered product tanker Orkim Harmony has remained missing since the night of 11 June, and attempts to contact the ship on all available communications were still not successful, according to ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC).

The last known position of the product tanker was about 17 nm southwest of Pulau Aur, Malaysia, ReCAAP ISC said on Friday.

“The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Indonesian Navy has reportedly deployed patrol boats to search for Orkim Harmony. Orkim Harmony is carrying 6,000 metric tonnes of ULG 95 (petrol) and has crew comprising Indonesians, Malaysians and Myanmar nationals onboard,” ReCAAP ISC said.

It has urged all vessels to look out for Orkim Harmony and to report sighting of the tanker to the nearest coastal state.

Coincidentally, Orkim Harmony’s sister vessel Orkim Victory was siphoned off 770 metric tonnes of diesel oil on 4 June in the vicinity, when it was attacked by pirates.
