PSA celebrates record year

Singapore: PSA International announced it celebrated record performances in container volumes handled across its port projects in Singapore and around the world in 2006. Globally, PSA's container throughput grew 18.6% to 51.29m teu. At its Singapore terminals, PSA achieved a growth of 7.6% to handle 23.98 million TEUs while its overseas terminals grew 30.2% last year to handle 27.31m teu.
Eddie Teh, Group CEO, PSA International, said, "2006 was a good year for world trade flows and we are happy to report increased volumes in our port projects globally. We would like to thank our shipping line customers for their continued support and patronage and at the same time accord recognition to our staff around the world, who continue to uphold PSA's brand of best-in-class service with their unrelenting commitment to excellence and their dedication to our customers. We look forward to growing our leadership position in 2007."
PSA operates 20 ports in 11 countries. It was recently granted the concession to operate Gwadar port in Pakistan and last year the Temasek-controlled entity bought a 20% stake in its Hong Kong rival Hutchison Port Holdings.  [11/01/07]
