Most of the ports that have signed agreements come from Guangzhou, Dongguan, Huizhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhongshan and Zhaoqing in Guangdong province.
Liu Wuwei, deputy general manager of Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises (Holding) said at the agreement signing ceremony that the transportation network would extend the local cargo transportation service to southwest China and inland regions.
A similar network was launched at Foshan earlier this year and is a new transportation model at the Greater Bay Area.
Through the network, some cargoes previously moved by road can be transported via waterway, and then be transported to the freight station through rail. This could save both costs for shippers and reduce environment pollution from freight transportation.
