The Singapore-listed shipping trust has chartered the ship to Mediterranean Shipping Corp (MSC) for $7,600 per day for 12 months with a 12 month option at a much increased $23,750 daily charter hire rate.
“The contracted charter rate is a reflection of the depressed shipping market, but with the significant charter hire increase agreed for the optional period, there is reason to hope that a market recovery will take place within the next twelve months,” said Thomas Preben Hansen, ceo of Rickmers Trust Management.
“Given the growing number of idle containerships, it gives us great comfort knowing that our fleet is now 100% employed for the remaining part of 2012 at an average daily net charter rate of almost $25,000 per vessel,” he added.
