Jakarta: Samsudera Indonesia has agreed to charter out two multipurpose vessels, the 8,900dwt Sinar Kudas and 9,100dwt Ardhianto, to breakbulk, heavylift and project cargo specialist Rickmers Linie over a two-year period. The companies will share the vessels, which are geared with box-shaped holds and 'tweendecks, samsudera operating them westbound on voyages SE Asia to Europe and then delivering them to Rickmers for eastbound voyages to the Middle East and India. Rickmers has commented before on the dearth of modern multipurpose/heavylift tonnage available for charter, and says it sees the deal with Samsudera as a 'rare opportunity to bring relatively new tonnage to the Middle East/India trade.'
