Seoul: South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said Tuesday it has won a US$1.4 billion contract to build eight container ships for Zim.
The contract calls for Samsung Heavy to deliver the ships to Israel's Zim Line by July 2012, the South Korean company said in a statement.
Separately, Samsung Heavy said it has built what it claims is the world's largest container vessel with a carrying capacity of 16,000 20-foot equivalent units. [16/10/07]
