Sapura Energy clinches contracts worth $242m across Asia-Pacific

Malaysia’s Sapura Energy has clinched contracts worth a total of MYR1bn ($242m), including its first offshore wind farm deal, for engineering, construction and drilling works across Asia-Pacific.

The 10 new contract wins were secured across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia. Sapura Energy said it has also been selected for a six-year frame agreement with Petronas to provide engineering, procurement and construction of fixed offshore structure works.

“In line with its growth strategy, Sapura Energy has continued to establish a stronger presence in existing core markets, enter new markets and expand its scope of services. Its growing orderbook is expected to increase asset utilisation and contribute to improving the group’s financial performance,” Sapura Energy said.

For its first offshore wind farm contract, Sapura Offshore won the deal from Yunneng Wind Power for the provision of transportation and installation of offshore wind turbine substructures at the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan.

For the drilling segment, Sapura Drilling Asia won contracts to provide three tender-assisted drilling rigs for Sarawak Shell, Sabah Shell Petroleum Company, Petronas Carigali, and Chevron Thailand.

Other contracts won by Sapura Energy include the delivering of a range of subsea engineering and construction services, and light well intervention work.
