Sasebo edges into VLGC sector

Tokyo: Sasebo Heavy Industries is entering a new sector, namely the construction of large LPG carriers (VLGC).
Sanko Steamship has already placed an order for an 84,000 cu m LPG carrier for delivery in 2012. Sasebo has a track record dating back to the 1980s of building smaller LPG carriers up to 10,000 cu m.
Sasebo joins a rarified club of just four yards worldwide building such ships.  [26/12/07]
