Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India has received approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for the purchase of six handymax bulk carriers for $269.4m. The vessels, of 57,000dwt each will be primarily funded by external borrowings. SCI currently operates a fleet of 79 vessels and is keen to expand its assets in both the dry bulk and energy sectors.
