Search for 8 missing from barge capsize continues
Search and rescue efforts continued on Thursday for eight crew missing from the Mongolian-flagged barge that capsized in the Singapore Strait on 24 July.

One of two Chinese nationals rescued from barge Guo Liang 677 by Singapore’s Police Coast Guard clarified there were 10 crew onboard the barge not 11 as originally believed bringing down the number of missing to eight.

All 10 crew were Chinese nationals.

The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore said the ongoing search and rescue operations has involved two Super Puma helicopters and a Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, three patrol vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy, two Police Coast Guard patrol craft, divers and two diving support vessels from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia) and 14 passing commercial vessels.

The Guo Liang 677, capsized about 7nm north of Horsburgh lighthouse in Singapore waters on 24 July.
