SeaSafe wins Masterbulk lifeboat contract
Masterbulk Singapore has contracted Wallem subsidiary SeaSafe Marine for a five-year lifeboat supply and service agreement.

SeaSafe will both equip and service lifeboats aboard Masterbulk’s fleet of 20 open hatch gantry crane vessels.

The group is an Independent Lifeboat Servicing and Testing Organisation (ILSTO), and an authorised representative of several lifeboat and davit manufacturers.

As well as maintenance of the lifeboats, the service includes pre-docking surveys, condition assessment checks on newly added tonnage and biannual visits on each vessel, as well as maintenance of gangways and accommodation ladders, and crew training.

“We consider it important that crew are proficient in using the equipment, which may well save their lives one day, so we also assist crew in performing drills and provide equipment specific familiarisation training,” said Andrew Lemmis, SeaSafe md. “This is the first fleet agreement that SeaSafe Marine has in place and I am sure it is just the beginning as our services are attracting interest from a number of shipowners.”
