Singapore: SembCorp Marine subsidiary Sembawang Shipyard (pictured) reports it has won a S$300m ($206m) contract from Equinox Accommodation Limited for one-plus-five options to convert passenger/car ferries to Accommodation and Repair Vessels (ARVs).
The vessels will be refurbished with 50 cabins and public spaces suitable for a complement of 400-500 persons. Other work will include installation of (dynamic positioning ) DP-2 class stern thrusters and new 60-ton and 80-ton cranes and an offshore gangway.
The company says the completed vessel(s) will the first such versatile ARVs specifically designed and equipped to provide extensive accommodation and workshop facilities to support and service offshore projects in deep water areas. [21/11/07]
