Shanghai port handles increased container volumes in July
The Chinese port of Shanghai has recorded an increase in container handling volumes in July compared to the year-ago period, according to statistics from the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).

Box volumes for July came up to 3.44m teu, representing a hike of 5.2% compared to 3.27m teu posted in July 2016, SIPG figures showed.

On a month-on-month comparison, volumes inched up by 1.2% from 3.4m teu in June this year.

From January to July 2017, Shanghai port posted a total throughput of 22.04m teu, an increase of 4.2% compared to 21.16m teu seen in the same period of last year.
