Sharjah sets new productivity record

Sharjah sets new productivity record

Dubai: Gulftainer, operator of the Sharjah Container Terminal (SCT), has recorded a new productivity record with the maiden call of APL's enhanced China-Middle East (CMX) service.

APL Argentina - one of the largest container vessels ever to visit SCT with 4,000teu capacity and 40,000grt - called the terminal in late March and was worked at record speed with a productivity of over 115 moves per hour.

Terminal Manager Paul Hennessy said "We always get excellent co-operation from APL and of course this helps to make our task easier and ensures that we can achieve optimum efficiency to speed the operation at the terminal. On this occasion of the maiden call of the first of their new series of bigger ships, it is especially gratifying that - together - we could achieve a record breaking performance."  [09/04/08]
