SHI bags billion dollar Evergreen orders

Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries has bagged a billion dollar boxship order from Evergreen Marine. SHI is to build 10 boxships for the Taiwanese line at cost of $1.03bn for delivery by November 2013 AFP reported. Evergreen was reported last month to have placed an order for 10 8,000 teu boxships at a undisclosed South Korean yard as part of plan to order 100 new vessels in total. SHI also announced it had won $670m in orders for nine tankers from two unidentified Asian shipowners. [02/07/10]
