SHI wins follow-on LNG carrier order

SHI wins follow-on LNG carrier order

Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has won a second order from UK based natural gas supplier BG group for the delivery of two 170,000 cbm dual-fuel diesel electric LNG vessels. The ships, due for delivery in 2010, will be fitted with the GTT Mark III membrane cargo containment system. Martin Houston, North America, Caribbean and Global LNG executive vp and md for BG, said: "I am delighted that we will continue our long-term relationship with Samsung.  These two new vessels will replace some of our chartered ships, will improve our fleet's performance and provide us with increased flexibility in meeting the growing demand by our customers for clean burning natural gas." SHI is currently building four 145,000 cbm vessels for BG, which are scheduled for delivery in 2007 and early 2008.  [04/01/07]
