Singapore: Italian shipowner and livestock carrier specialist Siba Ships has set up a new company in Singapore, Siba Ships Asia, in order to bring the group closer to key markets in the region. 'Singapore has all the right ingredients for us - good communications, access to high quality crew and shipping expertise, a well-run flag and is central to our markets in Australia, the Gulf, China and Indonesia,' explains Siba Ships md Mauro Balzarini. 'We shall shortly be acquiring more vessels, flagging them in Singapore and employing them with first-class charterers in Asia.' The group is building two purpose-built livestock carriers for delivery in 2007 and recently purchased the Deneb Prima, formerly Rodolfo Mata, the world's largest livestock carrier. It also operates a fleet of bulk vessels. [31/08/06]
