Sinanju’s latest 6,500 dwt vessel joins four others, Marine Queenie, Marine Rose, Marine Selena and Marine Unique, which have been delivered over the past six months, the company said in a press release.
The fleet expansion exercise will help it meet the growing demands for bunkering in Singapore. Sinanju currently operates a fleet of 13 modern double hulled bunker tankers – twelve in Singapore and one in Fujairah.
Marine Tina will be Singapore-flagged and deployed in local waters for bunkering of marine fuel oil. In line with Singapore regulations that all new bunker tankers must be installed with a mass flow meter (MFM) system, the vessel will undergo the necessary system commissioning and acceptance tests before gaining operational approval from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). She is expected to become fully operational in early March 2018.
“My team has been exceptionally busy executing our fleet expansion programme this past six months, but thanks to the excellent collaborative efforts rendered by our partners, such as Endress + Hauser and Metcore International, our newbuilds are geared up to extend Singapore’s prominence in the bunkering industry and support global trade growth,” said Sinanju gm Desmond Chong.
