Singapore box volumes rise 8.3% in February
The port of Singapore handled higher box throughput in February compared to the year-ago period, according to preliminary estimates by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Last month’s box volumes were recorded at 2.61m teu, an increase of 8.3% compared to 2.41m teu in February 2013, MPA data showed.

Compared to the throughput of 2.78m teu in January this year, last month’s volumes dropped by 6.1%.

Singapore was ranked the world’s second busiest container port with an annual throughput of 33.87m teu in 2014, behind China’s Shanghai port.
