Ningbo: Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, which describes itself as China's leading private shipbuilding company, reports a banner year for 2010. By the end of November it had delivered 54 vessels totalling 1.8m dwt in 2010, with a backlog of 4.2m dwt worth of orders still in the pipeline.
A highlight of Sinopacific's year was signing a frame agreement with Bourbon in June worth $1bn for building 62 offshore vessels, which is the largest ship building order placed in China since the global financial crisis in September 2008. The company has two shipyards - Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd and Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. [24/12/10]
