Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has invited foreign investors to consider investing in a ship yard project to be set up at a new port under construction in Hambantota, on the south of the island.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is due to issue a request for proposals in March and expects to see interest from the Middle East, China and India. According to sources, the shipyard will be capable of work on vessels of up to 450 metres in length. [26/01/09]
