Stamford: Independent shipbroking group SSY has announced it is setting up a global Finance Division, dubbed SSY Capital, to be able to blend market information with serving shipowners in the capital markets. Based in Stamford and led by US finance expert Tom Kane, the new division will also have branch offices in both Asia and Europe. 'We plan to open at least one branch office in Asia as soon as practically possible,' new SSY Capital exec Alex Taylor tells Seatrade. 'The branch will most likely be based in one of SSY's Asian offices: Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Shanghai or Singapore. We are still in the process of assessing the preferred location and staffing levels.' [06/10/06]
