Stena Bulk names latest MR tanker in Hong Kong
Stena Bulk's latest IMOIIMAX tanker Stena Imperative was named on Tuesday by Kim Olsson, daughter of Stena Group ceo Dan Sten Olsson, at the China Merchants Dock in Hong Kong.

Built by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering, formerly Guangzhou Shipyard International, the MR tanker is designed specifically for IMO2 cargoes and to offer its owner the highest flexibility in trading various cargoes.

With capacity equivalent to a 50,000 dwt MR tanker, the vessel is equipped with 18 tanks, each with a capacity of 3,000 cu m, and can carry both vegetable oils and chemicals such as oil and petroleum products. Other than its innovative technical design, the IMOIIMAX tankers have extra large cargo flexibility, high safety and low fuel consumption.

The Stena Imperative is the fifth in a series of ten similar tankers ordered from CSSC OME by Stena Bulk in 2012. The first four vessels were delivered in 2015 and the remaining five will be delivered by 2017.

Stena Teknik and CSSC OME were jointly responsible for the technical development of the eco-friendly IMOIIMAX concept, which has a fuel consumption at service speed that is 10-20% lower than that of equivalent vessels. tanker
