Singapore: Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine has doubled the size of its Singapore subsidiary as well as opening a yard in Mexico. Strategic has leased 3,000 sq m of land adjacent to its site at Tuas, Singapore. A 1,200 sq m covered area will be built there. From here it will build six 40m crew boats. Elsewhere, Strategic has just performed keel laying on its first vessel at its new yard at Matazlan in Mexico. Strategic entered a joint venture with Servicios Navales E Industriales in 2007 after winning an $11.9m order for two 52 metre crew boats for Bluewater Marine. [30/7/08]
