Seoul: STX Group announced yesterday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Coproation (USC) on July 26th to help the Russian yard group modernize its shipyard facilities and jointly establish a technology center for developing ice-class ships. ??STX Corporation president Kim Dae-you, STX Finland president Juha Heikinheimo and USC president Roman Trotsenko attended the signing ceremony. ??Under the MOU, the South Korean company will help USC's Admiralty Shipyard move into a new shipyard in terms of yard design, construction, workforce training and shipyard operation know-how. ??STX and USC will also jointly set up an Arctic Shipbuilding Technology Center at STX Finland's Helsinki Shipyard.
