Tokyo: Japan's Sumitomo Heavy Industries Marine & Engineering Co. (SHIME) is moving into the construction of suezmax tankers. Hitoshi Kashimoto, president of SHIME, told a press conference attended by the Kaiji Press, "We have developed our first suezmax tanker and received the first order for a unit of the model in 2008."
Up until now SHIME has focues on aframaxes. Up until the end of the 1990s SHIME also built VLCCs. [17/03/09]
