Bangkok: Thoresen Thai Agencies has revealed it is paying $158m for a quartet of handymaxes from Indonesia's PT PAL.
The 50,000 dwt handymax bulk carriers will be delivered between July 2009 and July 2010.
"The acquisitions are part of TTA's strategy to sustain a fleet of young and modern open-hatch box-shaped bulk carriers to serve the growing needs of our client base," the company said.
Thoresen Thai now has nine handymaxes on order, a rapid acceleration given that it only entered the newbuilding arena 13 months ago with a double Sumitomo order. [28/12/07]
