Taicang is China's fastest growing port

Shanghai: Volume through Taicang port in Jiangsu province grew 49 per cent year on year in the first nine months to 1.05 million TEU, making it China's fastest growing container port, reports Xinhua.

The port's volume for September stood at 135,000 TEU, which set a record high in its monthly volumes.  Taicang is barely two years old and is already in the teu millionaire's club. It is just 74 miles from Shanghai and is managed by Hong Kong's Modern Terminals. [3/11/08]
