Thome Ship Management Denmark will start operations in Copenhagen next month. The new office will be helmed by Stig Holm, previously fleet director with a Danish shipowner.
The Singapore-headquartered company said the Danish office would give it the opportunity to manage vessels on the Danish International Registry (DIS).
"With the opening of our brand new European office, we position ourselves optimally and in close proximity to many of our existing Scandinavian customers,” said Olav Eek Thorstensen, chairman of Thome Group.
The move was also welcomed by the Danish government, which is aiming to consolidate Denmark’s position as a leading maritime nation in Europe.
“I am pleased that Thome has decided to establish in Denmark. It underlines Denmark’s position as a global maritime industry leader with a long-standing shipping tradition and excellent framework conditions for the maritime cluster located here,” said Pia Olsen Dyhr, Danish Minister for Trade and Investment.
