The dry bulk shipowner opened its doors today on Thoresen Shipping Arabia.
“This is the fifth market we have expanded into, and follows successful launches into Denmark and South Africa over the last eighteen months or so, both of which, combined with our Singapore presence, have delivered solid business performance improvements,” said Ian Claxton, managing director of Thoresen Shipping.
Thoresen Shipping is Singapore-based dry bulk shipping arm of Thai-listed Thoresen Thai Agencies.
The new office in Dubai is headed up by Baard Osland.
“Indian Ocean trade has formed a significant component in Thoresen Shipping’s global cargo volumes. There is huge potential, and through this new office, we intend to boost cargo volumes in the region even further,” Claxton added.
Thoresen Shipping owns a fleet of 24 handymaxes and supramaxes.
