Hiroshima: Japanese shipbuilder Tsuneishi Corp reports that it has completed development of a 180,000dwt capesize desgn to be built at its yard in the Philippines, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc. The new vessel type is dubbed T-CORE 180, the acronym meaning for Customer Operation, Revenue and Safety & Environment.
A new drydock is currently under construction at the Philippine yard to accommodate the larger vessel size, adding to the existing two panamax facilities.
Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc delivered 11 vessels in 2007 - eight TESS 58 bulk carriers of 58,000dwt and three Pure Car Truck Carriers - and says it plans to maintain this production rate during 2008 and 2009, mainly with TESS58s. [08/08/08]
