Seoul: Akmar Shipping of Turkey has returned to Korea to Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for a brace of 82,000-dwt kamsarmaxes thought to be worth around $37m per unit. The ships are due for delivery in the second half of 2012.
Akmar's only previous newbuild contract was also in Korea, back in 2007 at Sungdong's neighbour, SPP Shipbuilding for two 59,000 dwt bulkers both of which are due to deliver next year. [01/11/10]
