Two new orders for Strategic Marine's Vietnam yard

Two new orders for Strategic Marine's Vietnam yard

Hanoi: Western Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine's recently constructed 136,500sqm shipyard in Vung Tau has won orders to build a 23.9m new generation compact tug and two steel dive support vessels. The orders are particularly significant as they are the first tugboat and steel hull vessel orders that the company has undertaken.
The 23.9m new generation 105dwt compact tug, ordered by the Port of Napier (New Zealand), will boast a 60 tonne bollard pull and be powered by a Voith Water Tractor. The two 143m steel dive support vessels are being built for Singapore's Marfield Limited.

"This latest project will enable us to develop our reputation in the tugboat market, which is something that our Board of Directors committed to achieving in 2008," Vietnam md Mark Schiller said. In line with this goal, the company will be an exhibitor at the three-day Middle East Workboats Exhibition and Conference at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre during 28-30 April 2008.

Strategic Marine, which intends to open a joint venture shipyard in Mexico, also has facilities in Singapore and Western Australia.  The company also offers services such as ship design, project management, engineering, maintenance planning, vessel operations, fisheries management, training and ship broking.
