Two Rolls-Royce wave-piercing PSVs for Chellsea

Two Rolls-Royce wave-piercing PSVs for Chellsea
Rolls-Royce (R-R) is to supply designs and equipment for two PSV newbuild projects at Cosco Guangdong Shipyard.

The new UT 771WP vessels, to be delivered to Singapore-based Chellsea group, will be the first in Asia to feature R-R’s wave-piercing bow, aimed at piercing the waves so as to handle better in rough seas and keep consistent speed and fuel consumption. The new vessels will be the third and fourth UT-designated vessels in the Chellsea fleet. The two vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2015.

The delivery from R-R will comprise including MTU-engines,  propulsion system, power electrical system, bulk handling system, deck machinery, automation and control system as well as an advanced dynamic positioning system.

“This new design has been developed in cooperation between Rolls-Royce, the ship owner and the yard,” said R-R offshore president Anders Almestad. “Their viewpoint has been vital to our design team in this project.

“We are very pleased that Cosco have confidence in us and introduced us to another new customer. We look forward to building a fruitful relationship with Chellsea going forward.”

The contract includes an option for additional four vessels.
