UASC delegation visits Asia

Singapore: Following the recent incorporation of United Arab Shipping Company (Asia), directors and executive management of the UASC have just held their first ever Board meeting in Asia. Chosen location was Singapore, the company's southeast Asian hub.

During the stay the UASC delegation, led by vice chairman Othman Ibrahim Al-Issa, visited Jurong Port, port of call in Singapore for UASC vessels, where they were met by ceo Matthew Chan, president Fong Yue Kwong and other senior management. in the evening Jurong Port chairman Barry Desker hosted a special dinner in UASC's honour, attended by some 60 local VIPs including the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Transport, BG Choi Shing Kwok, and MPA chief executive BG Tay Lim Heng.

Jurong Port registers annual UASC throughput of about 250,000teu in Singapore, a total which is expected to increase when the Gulf-based company's new vessels of over 6,000teu capacity start delivering from early 2008 onwards. [15/01/07]
