Kuwait: United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), the Gulf-based container line jointly owned by UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait, has created a new joint venture company with its German agents of some 40 years' standing, the Karl Geuther Group of Bremen. United Arab Shipping Agency Company (North West Europe) - or UASC (NWE) - will assume agency duties for Germany, Belgium and Holland from January 1. UASC has direct weekly calls at Rotterdam, Hamburg, Thamesport and Antwerp on its Europe/Middle East/Indian subcontinent/ Far East service connecting with Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Kaohsiung and Yantian using its own vessels; in addition it offers a weekly service with its partners between North European and Far East ports in a slot-swap agreement with Hanjin. [29/09/06]
