Dhaka: South Tyneside College Marine has announced a new collaborative relationship with Shah Maritime and Business Institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh aimed at providing Higher National Diplomas to young Bangladeshi students.
To prepare for this relationship College staff have visited Dhaka, then Commodore Quader, MD of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and Zahid Hossain, Chief Inspector of the Department of Shipping visited the South Shields campus in June. In November, final approval was granted by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency which will enable programme graduates to gain their Higher National Diplomas and Certificates of Competency.
Gary Hindmarch, Head of the Marine College at South Tyneside College, comments: "We are always pleased to expand our relationships overseas. In 2012 we shall we welcoming these new students to South Shields where they are sure to receive a warm welcome. The college has an outstanding worldwide reputation and attracting international partnerships such as this one is a credit to the facilities and quality of teaching." [23/12/10]
