Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Transport Liu Xiaoming takes charge of maritime sector

Liu Xiaoming, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) takes over the former vice minister He Jianzhong’s role and will be responsible for maritime sector, according to the notice released by MOT.

He Jianzhong, former Vice Minister of MOT, has retired and left the position in May.

Liu will be mainly in charge of waterway transportation sector including the Waterway Transport Bureau, Maritime Safety Administration, Marine Search and Rescue Center, China Classification Society(CCS), China Waterborne Transport Research Institute and China Transport Telecommunications & Information Center.

Liu, born in 1964, was the professor and deputy principal at Beijing University of Technology. He moved to Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport in 2003 and started his career in the Ministry of Transport in 2014.
