Hanoi: Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) has been authorized by the government to build two new shipyards for its own use, one in northern and the other in southern Vietnam, according to local media. The state-run shipping corporation plans to use the facilities basically to repair its own ships but it will also receive orders from other firms. The construction will be undertaken by Vinalines' two subsidiaries, Dong Do Shipping Co and Shipping Development Co, the report said. [11/09/06]
