Singapore: V.Ships' diverse operations in Asia now come under one roof at their new Singapore office in the heart of the city-state's business district. At its official opening last week V.Ships president Roberto Giorgi told Seatrade that although the company's core business is ship management, it is in fact a global company with spin offs and a range of activities in sectors such as oil, gas and energy. Given the growth of V.Ships in Asia, it makes sense to house all their brands together. Gesturing towards the office signboard displaying "V. Ships Asia, V.Financial, V.Ships Hansen, V.People, V.Investments , V. Ships Commercial and V. Ships Marine Travel", he said "This is our commitment to Asia, that we will grow in all the sectors we are in". He sees the consolidated set up as also ideal for cross-selling and teamwork.
Following the establishment of a joint venture, V.Ships MSI, with the Singapore-based IMC Group, V.Ship's Asian presence was expanded in early 2006 when V.Ships MSI itself signed a joint venture with China Shipping Container Lines to form a new Shanghai-based ship management company. [24/09/07]
