Sydney: Wilhelmsen Ships Service is seeing the benefits of its recently opened office the remote port of Broome. The office (pictured), launched in October is the comapny's twentieth Australian port office and is located over 2000km from Perth and almost 2000km from Darwin.
Broome is in close proximity to the rapidly growing oil and gas fields located off the North West coast of Australia which makes it an increasingly important support base for the country's booming offshore industry. Wilhelmsen Ships Service thus made the strategic decision to establishing its Broome office to ensure that the comprehensive coverage of the company's port network continues to be maximised.
The port is also a favoured location on the itinerary of cruise vessels travelling Australia's North West coastline, as well as being Australia's third largest livestock export port, supporting the strong livestock industry in Australia's North West.
The Broome office will be headed by Frank Treasure whose 40 years of maritime industry experience includes a sound knowlege of Wilhelmsen Ships Service's range of Unitor products and of the company's services which include ships agency, technical services and maritime logistics. "We look forward to providing a friendly and reliable service to all our customers calling in this port" said Treasure. [22/12/09]
