Yang Ming, OOCL launch joint China-Pakistan service

Taipei: Taiwanese operator Yang Ming Marine Transport announced on December 6 that the company and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will begin a new joint service CPX that connects China and Pakistan beginning in mid-January 2008.
CPX will be a fixed-day weekly service operated with five 1,200-teu ships, three put up by Yang Ming and two by OOCL. Rotation will be: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Karachi, Mundra, Penang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai. The service will commence with the YM Inauguration arriving at Shanghai on Jan. 17.
Simultaneously with launching CPX service, Yang Ming will also realign its CGX China-Middle East service now calling at Karachi and increase space for Middle East-bound cargo, with details to be revealed at a later date. [12/12/07]
