Yangtze operator heads to Bohai for handymax spree

Shanghai:  One of China's largest riverine operators, Shenzhen-listed Chang Jiang Shipping Group Phoenix Co., Ltd., plans to invest RMB1.53bn buying six 57,300dwt bulkers. All the six handymax bulk carriers will be built by Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.

Seperately, Bohai, which is building the largest ships in China ever - a pair of 320,000 dwt VLCCs for BW Shipping - has announced it plans to deliver seven ships this year thanks to the opening of its new 540,000 dwt drydock.  [05/03/07]
