Tokyo: Yanmar Co. has recently granted a license on its medium-speed marine engines to Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corp. (Vinashin). Vinashin will construct a new engine plant in the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh city within 2008 and start production in 2009. The engines produced there will be used in generators for oceangoing merchant ships. Vinashin plans to produce 200 units in 2011 at the plant.
Yanmar has also provided a license on medium-speed engines of the 2,200-3,300-kW range output to Zibo Diesel Engine Works in Qingdao. [19/11/07]
