Beijing: The transmission assembly joint venture between Germany's ZF Group and the Nanjing Highspeed and Accurate Gear Company has finally begun production - 14 months after it was established. The ZF Nanjing Marine Propulsion Company (ZF-NMP) uses a 5,000 sq m plant to assemble and market ZF Marine's range of heavy-duty transmissions for application in workboats and ocean-going commercial vessels powered by engines up to 14,000 kW.
João Tomazeli, ZF-NMP gm said, "We have, all the equipment necessary for assembling large gearboxes, including various sized cranes, several test benches, an automatic washing and drying cabin and painting cabin and we meet the highest standards for protecting the environment. The factory also has a large warehouse and there are also several technical offices with comprehensive IT systems for production and electronic data exchange, for the material management and communication with technical centres in Europe."
"ZF-NMP will source components from reliable suppliers like NGC and the transmissions will be marketed via ZF Marine's existing worldwide sales and service network," adds Roland Heil, ZF Marine Group ceo. "China offers great potential to optimise production costs and enter new markets."Â [10/10/07]
