Seoul: STX Offshore & Shipbuilding announced that it has inked a milestone contract with European shipowner thought to be Sammy Ofer's Zodiac Maritime to build ten 13,000-teu containerships including optional units, worth about $1.4bn in total. ?STX says that the ships will have a length of 365 meters, a breadth of 48 meters and a height of 30 meters. They are scheduled to be delivered from Jinhae Shipyard in South Korea from the second quarter of 2013, it reveals. ?STX has recently delivered the MSC BERYL, the first of nine 13,000-teu ships ordered by Greece's NIKI Shipping in 2007.
