An internationally experienced maritime trainer, Dr Surender Kumar has been associated with the Nautical Institute accredited Dynamic Positioning training for over a decade. An electrical engineer by profession, Chartered Engineer, Chartered Marine Engineer and Chartered Marine Technologist from UK charter, he is a fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (UK) and a fellow of the Nautical Institute, London.
He has over three decades of experience including the Indian Navy, mercantile fleet and offshore. Completed his Ph.D thesis titled “Effectiveness of Seafarer’s Training Using Maritime Simulators” from the University of Petroleum & Energy studies Dehradun, India
He was the principal of Sir Derek Bibby Maritime Training Centre (Later known as Global Maritime Training Centre) where he was instrumental in introducing the DP training accredited by the Nautical Institute and MCA (UK) approved courses for the first time in India. Learning and teaching fascinates him, and he is also a visiting faculty for management programs for various universities and is a PhD guide. He also contributes to the learning and teaching process as the life member of the All India Management Association and the founding director and current vice president of the Maritime Trainers Guild, India.
