The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), one of the leading shipping companies in the world, has chosen a software platform from Kewill. The Kewill MOVE platform includes a comprehensive end-to-end solution for managing the complexities of international shipping and freight forwarding for its General Cargo business. The platform offers Bahri best industry practices through integrated systems, helps improve operational efficiencies, provides better visibility to its customers and also drives better informed decision-making and more detailed financial reporting and analysis.
Bahri’s decision to implement the Kewill solution follows a detailed business process improvement study, initiated to benchmark its operations against global industry best practices and to identify the supply chain software that would best support its ambitious growth targets. The Kewill software selected has extensive capabilities to meet all of Bahri’s international shipping, ocean freight requirements, including FCL, RO/RO, break-bulk and project cargo, as well as inland haulage, equipment handling and feeder operations.
Once deployed, the Kewill platform will manage the entire process, from quotations and booking through to documentation and invoicing. Web-enabled, it will seamlessly connect Bahri with customers, agents and NVOCC operators, providing visibility of critical supply chain data right across the operation. Event management and alert functions will ensure only relevant parties are informed in real-time of any issues which require escalation, particularly those that may affect shipment schedules.
A further key benefit from the Kewill software is an integral ¬financial accounting module which not only automates invoicing and reconciliation, with extensive options for attributing costs and charges, but enables detailed analysis and reporting on performance against KPI’s and profitability by route and by customer, which is essential to ongoing optimization.
Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, CEO of Bahri said, “We carried out an extensive study of the supply chain software market to ensure we select not only the best solution for our general cargo business, but also the best fit of vendor. Our evaluation showed Kewill was able to demonstrate its extensive domain knowledge of the international shipping sector, which provides Bahri with the confidence they understand our business and will work with us over the long term to deliver a solution that evolves with our changing requirements.”
“Bahri is a one of the largest vessel owners and a major player in shipping and ocean freight, with plans to build on its current position and expand further”, comments Bob Farrell, President and CEO at Kewill. “By selecting the Kewill MOVE platform, rather than an individual shipping solution, they have built in scalability and flexibility to their strategy, as the solution offers the ability to simply add on additional supply chain functionality at any time.”
